Kentucky EMS Opioid Response Data

Statewide Emergency Medical Services opioid response data, collected weekly since January 2018. This is the primary dataset for the RADOR-KY forecasting project.

Geographic Coverage

Data is aggregated at multiple levels: state, Area Development District (ADD), county, zip code, tract, block group, and block. Analysis determined county-level and ADD-level are most appropriate for model development (state is too broad, sub-county too sparse).

Temporal Coverage

Monthly temporal scales proved optimal over yearly (too coarse) or weekly (too noisy) intervals.

• Social determinants of health (unemployment, vehicle access, age demographics)
• Aggregated Medicaid claims for OUD and behavioral health treatment
• Kentucky State Police drug seizure data
• Department of Corrections substance use measures
• Syndromic surveillance nonfatal overdose ED visits
• Monthly weather data (temperature, precipitation)
